Labour expects more Brexit talks as deadline looms


With just five days to go until the UK is due to leave the EU, Labour has said it expects to hold further talks with the government to find a Brexit deal.
Theresa May has said only a cross-party pact will get the support of a majority of MPs, as the DUP and some Tories have rejected her deal with the EU.
However, several Conservatives have strongly criticised the move.
The PM is due at an emergency summit in Brussels on Wednesday, when EU leaders will expect to hear fresh plans.
The UK is scheduled to leave the EU on Friday, 12 April, at 23:00 BST.

Aerial photos help census officials pinpoint faraway people

Technology News : The U.S. Census Bureau is using new high-tech tools to help get an accurate population count next year as its faces challenges tallying people of color who live in remote places and can be wary of the federal government.The agency is using aerial photos of rural communities and hard-to-reach areas to verify addresses and determine where to send workers to ensure everyone is counted, Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham said. Satellites and planes take photos, and bureau employees compare the housing captured in the images to digital maps from the last census, in 2010. It takes a fraction of the time needed by workers in the field. Snakebites: Like having my hand smashed by a hammer’

David Williams has been bitten by a snake six times. “The first time was pretty terrifying because I didn’t know what to expect. It felt like having my hand smashed with a hammer,” he says. “My last snakebite would have been a fatal one, but for the fact we were carrying an emergency medical kit so we could do something about it.” Dr Williams, an expert on snakebites at the World Health Organization (WHO) – who travels the world collecting snake venoms to help develop new treatments – says most victims “don’t have that life-saving luxury”.
