Ukraine election: Poroshenko debates empty podium as Zelensky stays away


Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko has debated with an empty podium after his rival Volodymyr Zelensky – a TV star and comedian- failed to appear.
Mr Poroshenko spoke alone to thousands of people in the capital Kiev’s Olympic Stadium.
The two men had agreed to the televised debate last week, but failed to agree on the date it would take place.
Mr Zelensky favoured this coming Friday, two days before they go head to head in the election run-off.

Mr Poroshenko, who is trailing his rival after winning just 16% of the first round vote, appears to now be hoping to capitalise on Mr Zelensky’s failure to arrive at Kiev’s Olympiyskiy Stadium for the televised face-off.

Technology News : The U.S. Census Bureau is using new high-tech tools to help get an accurate population count next year as its faces challenges tallying people of color who live in remote places and can be wary of the federal government.The agency is using aerial photos of rural communities and hard-to-reach areas to verify addresses and determine where to send workers to ensure everyone is counted, Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham said. Satellites and planes take photos, and bureau employees compare the housing captured in the images to digital maps from the last census, in 2010. It takes a fraction of the time needed by workers in the field. David Williams has been bitten by a snake six times. “The first time was pretty terrifying because I didn’t know what to expect.
